Patterns of a theme is a new series featuring patterns in knitting and crochet based on a specific theme. For our first installment, we tackle Adventure Time!
Adventure Time is one of the few shows I really enjoy watching (and at times also admire). It is an animated series airing since 2010 on Cartoon Network [Wikipedia, IMDB], which has stolen the hearts of kids and adults alike. It is comedy, it is adventure, it is fantasy, it’s surreal and random, it is made for children but is at times more grown-up than shows for adults.
It is the show that has coined the (now) popular phrases “Mathematical!“, “Oh my Glob!” and “Homies help Homies, always.”
I personally like it because it provides pure entertainment in a very original and contemporary way.
So the other day, while I was watching a few episodes, I thought: “Hmm making an amigurumi version of BMO would be awesome!” and I immediately started thinking of shapes, crochet techniques and what yarn to use in making him, but before I spiralled too much into deep thought, I had the idea to check out on Ravelry if others had already come up with a pattern. And I am glad I did, because I found the awesome patterns I have gathered in this post.
There are not too many patterns available at the moment, but rather multiple versions of the most popular/main characters. There is no pattern as of yet for main characters like the Ice King, Fiona & Cake and Marceline the Vampire Queen, so here I have only gathered versions for Finn & Jake, BMO, Princess Bubblegum, Lumpy Space Princess aka LSP, Lady Rainicorn, Gunter and Lemongrab. For Finn & Jake I have included two versions for each, because each version corresponds to a different finished size and because both look awesome! mathematical!
And here is the full list of patterns:
