Different people can have vastly different tastes but the source of inspiration to create is usually the same: the person’s environment. Wether that is nature, the flora and fauna, people, buildings, paintings and the list goes on. We (Eleni & Asimina) are particularly drawn to the details appearing in traditional manifestations of the arts and human achievements. We have a thing for bold colors, but sometimes we like to stick to the neutrals too. We believe that a good combination of different elements can greatly promote or demote the usage and appearance of an object.
We admire the works of different cultures and the results of traditions passed down through many generations, the importance of each color and element used, and their meaning in the society they stem from. Unfortunately there is no Wikipedia complete enough for this kind of knowledge, but information is out there. We are curious about origins and history and we understand the importance of correct information. We have started an online Inspiration board in which we slowly add things we find around the Web and that we find motivating in many ways.
Here we present some of these inspirational images.
Details like the intricate edging on an Iranian library, the color palette used on a painting, the elegance of antlers, the good mix of patterns and textiles, fascinate us.
So, where do you draw inspiration from?
